[March] Nan Winters is a lovely little shop tucked into one of the best shopping streets in Petaluma. This sweet boutique carries a surprisingly plentiful inventory of nearly everything including: bridal, formal, prom, cocktail and even some really cute everyday wears. Nan, the store's owner and namesake, is the smiling face who will greet you when you walk in and she's more than happy to be your instant girlfriend; suggesting flattering fits or giving you that second opinion when you're unsure.
I recently met with Nan and I'm happy to share all of the pretty details from our day.
Nan opened her shop just over 5 years ago although don't let that time-frame fool you because she has decades worth of experience in fashion and business. After running someone else's clothing store for about 20 years, she made the move to her new town of Petaluma and decided it was time for her to pour all of her love into her own shop. Nan Winters Boutique was born. Family and friends joined in to support her, painting the store the soft, romantic hues.
She carries a wide arrange of designers; all designs that speak to her strong sense of style. You'll find familiar names such as Nicole Miller and Sue Wong and some other niche brands such as Astoria and Selena. There are gowns for many, many types of brides; whimsical for that redwood wedding in Occidental, sophisticated for a Napa Valley winery, flowing for the full-figured bride and even adorable empire waisted gowns for that bride that started early on building her family.
Her gowns fit a range of budgets; anywhere between $250-1600 and most are available for your event within 2-4 months. She even works with a designer in Florida who will customize the romantic, lacy dresses to fit each bride's individual personality; a little more length, a lacy shawl, etc. And if all of this bridal loveliness wasn't enough, she has an array of gowns for all the women in your life. Even prom! Which she informed me that she keeps a log of which student orders what so that there won't be any embarrassing dual looks at the same dance.
So next time you're in Petaluma's Sonoma County give Nan a hello!
